I took this off their message board so more news to come as it comes available. The first day will be the boat tournament and the second day (Sunday) will be the Kayak Tournament. It will be $100 to fish in the the Kayak Tournament, and it will be Redfish/Trout Slam, Big Red, Big Trout. Hobie is the sponsor and first place Combo gets a Pro-Angler, and Revolution and Outback will befor Big Red and Big Trout. Depending on the number of participants as to how many places will pay out in cash. Thats all I know so far.

Quote from http://www.redfishtour.com/phpBB2/index.php message board.

Here is a sneak preview, guys. There are still details to be finished for 2010, and it will be a little while longer, but as I promised earlier this week, I am putting out the most important parts for you guys. I believe that this will be the actual 2010 schedule. The second day on each event listing is for the IFA Kayak Fishing Tournament presented by Hobie Fishing, announced earlier this season.

FL EAST COAST DIVISION

FEBRUARY 27 & 28 JACKSONVILLE, FL
MAY 1 & 2 TITUSVILLE, FL
OCTOBER 9 & 10 FERNANDINA BEACH, FL

FL WEST COAST DIVISION
MARCH 6 & 7 PUNTA GORDA, FL
MAY 15 & 16 SARASOTA, FL
SEPTEMBER 18 & 19 RUSKIN, FL

GULF COAST DIVISION

MARCH 13 & 14 DESTIN, FL
JUNE 5 & 6 PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL
OCTOBER 16 & 17 ORANGE BEACH, AL

ATLANTIC DIVISION

MARCH 20 & 21 CHARLESTON, SC
MAY 22 & 23 SURF CITY, NC
SEPTEMBER 25 & 26 GEORGETOWN, SC

TEXAS DIVISION

APRIL 17 & 18 PORT LAVACA, TX
JUNE 12 &13 ROCKPORT, TX
SEPTEMBER 11 & 12 PORT ARANSAS, TX

LOUISIANA DIVISION

APRIL 24 & 25 COCODRIE. LA
JUNE 19 & 20 EMPIRE, LA
AUGUST 28 & 29 GRAND ISLE, LA

Championship location or dates/TBA.

Before the questions start about payout/entries/prizes/sponsors/contingencies/kayaks, etc..., we are still finalizing some aspects of the season. More details will be furnished soon.

I will say this re: payout and entries...

The 2010 payout will be increased from 2009, and yet we will NOT price any anglers out of the tournaments.

As far as the venues: We have been looking at and considering some of these venues for several years, and nothing in 2010 has been done lightly.

The IFA has placed it's faith in our many talented and hard-working anglers to recognize the value and potential of the locations and venues we have chosen for this season, and we believe that the 2010 schedule will have the maximum benefit for our members.

Nothing negative towards any venues that we did not choose this year. At the request of many anglers, we have looked at and will fish a few locations that we have not been to in the past, or in some cases not in a long time.

I trust this will now allow all the guys to make their schedule planning complete.

I talked with Jerry the owner of IFA regarding the kayak division:

$100 entry fee

Only requirement for fishing locations is that you make it to the measure in on time. So start your morning as far as you can drive from the HQ and be back on time. You attend a Captains meeting either Friday night or Saturday night before the Sunday tournament, and you can go to your fishing location, launch, and fish at the determined safe light.

2 fish tournament Redfish/trout There will be a kayak given away for longest combination of Redfish/Trout, Longest Red, and Longest Trout. I think the kayaks are Pro-Angler for the Combo, Revo for Big Red, and Outbakc for big Trout. Additional places will receive a cash payout determined by the number of anglers participating.

Artificial and bait will be allowed

No more lie detector test

***** NEW RULE ANNOUNCE IN JACKSONVILLE ******

Any Redfish caught and photographed over 27" is counted as 27". The tie breaker is broken by the first to return to the measure in with their pics. So if you catch a 36" Red, it will count as 27". I have no problem with the rule myself but thought the rest of you should know since we just found out.

Congrats to Jason Stock on going to Jax for the first time and getting 6th place prize money.

That rule change definitely changes my game plan, glad I won't have to be making any long drives (hopefully) tournament day!

Dumb rule.

Its a catch, PHOTO, release tourney. Why should you be penalized for catching a bigger fish than the other guy.

I dont mind the rule, actually its gonna play to my favor because Im on mostly all resident slot fish, not many overslots. Basically its gonna end up being who can catch the bigger trout

Over thirty anglers attended. A few showed up late from the south because of a big pile up on 95 so I know there were a few over thirty. I don't mind the rule change since I fsih arty and rarely catch a red over 30 inches.

I wouldn't be so quick to discount artificials to catch reds over 30". I've seen it done a few times over the past couple weeks. Spoons, Exudes, DOA shrimp, all caught em. If it's really rare you catch em it might be because they aren't where you're fishing.
I don't have a horse in this race but I wonder if the organizers are worried about the "possession" rule when it comes to over slots.

Well since I'm 46, and been fsihing for Reds for 26 years and only caught my biggest two that are 32" long with a rod and reel, I'm pretty confident that I maight not be catching many more. Most of mine are 24-30" long on top water and spoons on the flats.

I did take a newbie out one day, and he caught 3 reds on top water. The next time I took him I let him run free and he caugtht a 36" Red on a dead stick gulp jig head. He was dead sticking while he but on sunblock. Line took off and he caught that big monster in the high grass. I'm not sure what kind of sunblock it was.

Anyway, I like the 27" Max cause you can catch a red thats 27 or better and spend the rest of the day finding big trout.
